Piper: The Skinner

Description:

Look: A petite young woman with a striking face and arresting blue eyes set against cafe au lait complexion. In the cold weather, she oftens wears a form fitted long, tanned and weathered leather coat and gloves, both of which feature designs of flames etched along the edges. Without the coat, she is most often clad in some earth toned combination of thigh high boots over leather pants and vest worn over frail lace blouses or tattered dresses all of which fitted to highlight her toned, feminine body. Her expressive hands often dance when she talks.

simply perform very well.

fixated upon you. Roll+hot. On a 10+, hold 3. On a 7–9, hold 2. They can
spend your hold, 1 for 1, by:
• giving you something you want
• acting as your eyes and ears
• fighting to protect you
• doing something you tell them to
For NPCs, while you have hold over them they can’t act against you. For PCs, instead, any time you like you can spend your hold, 1 for 1:
• they distract themselves with the thought of you. They’re acting under fire.
• they inspire themselves with the thought of you. They take +1 right now.
On a miss, they hold 2 over you, on the exact same terms.

Bio:

The blue eyed Piper also fled a little behind her friend Stitch and their crew when the non-believing hardhold rebelled against the fate they chose for themselves. It wasn’t like she hadn’t softly warned Flex in between trysts that his continuous blasphemy all gods were dead and a god of Fire was bullshit, especially in the face of all of Fire’s miracles for the hold was going to lead them to a sorrowful place and turn all this bounty to ashes. Flex kept denying and so was all to blame for the crops and the coming hard times. Piper knew while Fire could be as patient as a flicker, Fire won’t ever be diminished. If Fire decreed Flex and his followers would be plunged into the Dark, it also chose to reward Piper so she could warn Stitch and crew ahead of the mob it was probably time to go. Separated from Stitch and crew in the escape, she and Skinny Boy made their way onward, trying to reunite. Even dehydrated and with Skinny Boy whining incessantly, Piper knew sooner or later they would find the crew and a new hearth so she could softly spread the word of Fire to all who still dwelled in the cold Dark.

Genesis:
Piper was born into the Cult of Fire, her parents gave her to the cult after her birth to decide her fate. Her evolving devotion and promised beauty evident at a very young age identified her as what they call “Kindling,” meaning one meant to go out into the world to inspire and spread the flames and deeds of Fire, so that the cult could grow and Fire can brightly burn the world with its Light. Piper is a musician who first learned by mimicry of sparse birdsongs, then scraps of old melodies before creating new ones. Eventually she added lyrics to some songs about the people, battles, events and situations in the world or hold, or from fables and lessons. She sings in a fair voice, but is at her best when she is playing haunting melodies on her instruments (wind instruments) sometimes inspiring specific emotions or trains of thoughts in those who listen.

On and Off lover: I heard about you before I met you. You travel about and when you visted the hold share word with me of what is really happening in other places, giving me fuel for new stories and songs. Even though I don’t have much metal on me…I seem to keep your attention when we are alone. We seem to get along well in this one regard, if in no other.
